Lladró 4961 Angel Dreaming Glazed Porcelain Figurine, Seated Angel with Cheek Resting on Hand

Lladró 4961 Angel Dreaming is a glazed porcelain figurine of a small child angel sitting on the ground with knees drawn up, head tilted to one side and one cheek resting on a hand. The finish is glossy and almost entirely white, a soft blue-white porcelain glaze, with taupe hair and pale flesh tones on the face, hands and feet. Compact and rounded, the figure has no separate base; the angel sits directly on the flat underside.

Short tousled curls in taupe, a soft gray-brown, frame a round face with pink cheeks and lips and heavy-lidded, downcast eyes with fine painted lashes. One elbow rests on the raised knee so the hand cups the cheek, and the other arm reaches down so the hand rests over the bare, crossed feet. The long gown is plain white with a rounded Peter Pan collar and turned-back cuffs, and its folds wrap around the knees. Two small white wings rise from the shoulder blades, each molded with rows of feathers.

The underside is glazed white with an unglazed rim where it sits, and has a small round vent hole. Near the center, the Lladró mark is printed in blue, a cobalt blue: the bellflower logo (a stylized flower on a stem) above LLADRO in serif capitals, with HAND MADE IN SPAIN in tiny block capitals below. Several marks are also impressed into the porcelain nearby, including a 4, a looped figure like an 8, a check-like stroke and a stylized letter; they are worn and only partly legible.

On this copy: about 6 to 7 inches tall, judged against the hand in the photos (not measured). No chips, breaks or crazing are visible. Gray grime runs along the unglazed rim and in the hollow of the base, with a small yellow fleck on the gown and light dirt in the folds.
