What to check
- Base marks: many makers molded a name, number or logo into the base. Tilt the piece under light to read it.
- Pontil and seams: a rough or polished pontil scar means hand blown; mold seams mean pressed or mold blown.
- Color: name the color the way sellers do: cobalt, amber, milk glass, avocado, aqua.
- Damage: run a fingertip around the rim for chips and hold it to light for cracks.
