A Klingon phrase book for the wall

This poster was printed in 1993 by Western Graphics Corporation of Eugene, Oregon, as an authorized user of Paramount's Star Trek trademarks. Detailed visual description

Red KLINGON title over three portraits and a phrase chart

The Star Trek Klingon "The Warrior Tongue" poster is a tall, rectangular 1993 Star Trek: The Next Generation poster by Western Graphics, numbered Klingon No. 316, that works as a Klingon phrase book for the wall. Its background is gray, a cool silver gray, with a cream white panel for the phrase chart. Main colors are red (a bright true red), black text, and the full-color photographs.

Top: KLINGON across the full width in huge red capitals, tall and condensed with sharp, blade-like points on the letters. Below it, three side-by-side color photos of Klingon characters in ridged-forehead makeup, each with a quoted Klingon line and an italic English translation: "Where is a good restaurant?" on a red-orange backdrop at left, "Is this seat taken?" in the center, and "Where is the bathroom?" on a purple backdrop at right. Next, a red banner reading THE WARRIOR TONGUE in white, widely spaced capitals, flanked by lines of red Klingon script glyphs. The rest is a two-column chart headed English, Klingon and Rough Pronunciation, with dot leaders, running from Yes and No through lines such as Beam me aboard, Revenge is a dish which is best served cold, and Where do you keep the chocolate? A large faint gray Klingon Empire trefoil emblem (three blades in a circle) sits behind the chart as a watermark.

Bottom: the red STAR TREK logo in slanted, slab-edged capitals with THE NEXT GENERATION beside it, a small Western Graphics Corp. logo (white capitals on a black bar) with its Eugene, Oregon address at lower left, and fine print at lower right giving KLINGON NO. 316, the 1993 Paramount Pictures copyright, the Star Trek trademark notice, a credit that "The Klingon Dictionary" is published by Pocket Books, and Western Graphics Corporation Authorized User.

On this copy: not measured; one listing for this poster gives about 21 x 31 inches. It is mounted on tan board and set in a black frame, with a round blue inventory sticker reading 15 at the top left of the board. The surface has scuffs, light grime and small creases, with tape remnants at the top and bottom edges. Still, the print is bright and complete.
