Cast Iron "Haircut and Shave 25¢" Barbershop Wall Plaque with Four Scroll Hooks
This is a cast iron barbershop-style wall hook rack (coat or towel rack) reading "25¢ / HAIRCUT / AND / SHAVE / 25¢" in raised serif capitals. The plaque has an arched top edge with a beaded border and a small center cartouche, leafy scroll ornaments at both ends and a straight beaded bottom rail with four curled hooks attached by screws. Two mounting holes pierce the face near the 25¢ prices, and the back is flat and unmarked. Its finish is a rusty brown with gold-yellow highlights. It is unmarked, and racks of this design are widely sold as modern vintage-style decor rather than antique barbershop fixtures.

A barbershop decor piece
Racks reading Haircut and Shave 25¢ are made as vintage-style barbershop decor, recalling the era when a cut and shave cost a quarter. The same casting appears in many current listings, usually described as vintage-style, and this one is held together with modern Phillips-head screws.
Cast iron barbershop rack with raised lettering and four hooks
This Haircut and Shave 25¢ cast iron hook rack is a horizontal wall plaque shaped like a wide arch, with a straight bottom edge carrying four hooks. It is cast iron with an antiqued finish in brown, a rusty iron brown, dusted with yellow, a dull mustard gold, in the recesses and on the raised details, which gives it an aged barbershop look.
Front to back: the arched top edge is framed by a raised beaded border with a small upright cartouche or keystone at the top center. Each end is built up with leafy acanthus-style scrolls and curls that frame the corners. All the lettering is raised, in plain serif capitals. 25¢ sits at the upper left and again at the lower right, each with a cent sign, HAIRCUT arches along the top in large capitals, AND is small and centered beneath it, and SHAVE runs straight across in large capitals above the bottom rail. The bottom rail, a straight raised bead border, carries four curled scroll hooks, one at each end and two evenly spaced between, each bending out and curling up at the tip. Two small round mounting holes go through the face, one near each 25¢.
The back is flat with a raised rim around the edge and a slightly pebbled cast surface. From behind, Phillips-head screws along the bottom edge fasten the four hooks, and the two mounting holes pass straight through. No maker's name, number or country of origin is cast or stamped on the front or back.
On this copy: not measured; it is a little longer than the width of a hand at each end and reads as a mid-size wall rack. The finish is evenly rusted and dusty, with the yellow-gold highlights worn on the high points of the letters and beads. No cracks or broken hooks are visible.
