Detailed visual description

Cream ruffled baker with a red dahlia and blue tulip bouquet

The Pioneer Woman Blooming Bouquet ruffle baker is a rectangular stoneware baking dish with straight, fairly deep walls, rounded corners and a wavy, ruffled rim that rises and dips all the way around. Its highest points are at the corners. It is glazed cream, a warm off-white ivory, inside and out, and printed with bright watercolor-style flowers in red, a coral red to raspberry pink; blue, a teal blue and a cornflower blue; yellow, a sunflower gold; purple, a plum violet; and green, an olive to leaf green.

Front to back: the inside floor carries one large centered bouquet. Its biggest flowers are a red-pink dahlia with layered pointed petals and a yellow center, a teal blue tulip with a long green leaf, two yellow sunflowers or daisies, plum purple blossoms, small blue forget-me-not clusters and red rose-like buds. Between the colored flowers are gray line-drawn outline flowers (lilies and narcissus shapes, plus a faint butterfly), scattered tiny yellow star flowers, and clusters of small teal dots and snowflake-like dot rosettes. The inside walls are plain cream. Outside, all four walls repeat the same mix as a continuous band of flowers, gray outline blossoms and teal dot clusters.

The underside is unglazed at the outer edge and glazed cream inside, with a raised rectangular frame around a recessed center panel. In that panel the backstamp is printed in teal blue: a scalloped-edge circle with FROM MY FRONTIER TO YOURS curving around the top and AS USEFUL AS IT IS GORGEOUS curving around the bottom in small capitals, The Pioneer Woman in large flowing script with swashes and a small registered mark in the center, a small butterfly to the right, and STONEWARE / CHINA · 3318DIB in tiny capitals. Below the seal, Dishwasher Safe, Microwave / and Oven Safe is printed in a small upright typeface.

On this copy: not measured; in the photos an adult hand spans most of the width of the base. The inside has dark food or dust specks along the edges, yellowish staining on the rim and walls, and light utensil marks on the floor. Underneath, the unglazed bottom edge is browned from use. No chips or cracks are visible.
