Worlds of Wonder The Talking Mickey Mouse Show, 1986 Animated 24" Plush
Mickey Mouse, animated by the Teddy Ruxpin company
Worlds of Wonder became famous in 1985 for Teddy Ruxpin, the storytelling bear whose mouth and eyes moved to a cassette tape. In 1986 the company used the same idea for Disney with The Talking Mickey Mouse Show. Mickey talks, tells stories and jokes when you put a special animation cassette in the player in his back, and his eyes, nose and mouth move in time with his voice. He came with The Impossible Journey, a rescue adventure set in Africa, plus a follow-along storybook. More tapes, called Mickey's Variety Series, were sold separately. Worlds of Wonder went bankrupt in late 1987, so the line was short-lived.
