Vintage St. Joe Resources Orange Mesh Trucker Hat
A company cap from the St. Joe lead mining operations in Missouri
St. Joe started out in 1864 as the St. Joseph Lead Company and spent more than a century mining lead in southeast Missouri, first in the Old Lead Belt around Bonne Terre and later along the Viburnum Trend. It became St. Joe Minerals in 1970, and Fluor bought it in 1981. In 1986 St. Joe and Homestake Lead formed the Doe Run Company partnership, which still runs the Missouri lead operations.
This cap reads St. Joe Resources rather than St. Joseph Lead or St. Joe Minerals, so it most likely comes from the 1980s, after the 1970 name change. Mining companies handed caps like this to crews, contractors and suppliers, and most were worn until they fell apart. If you know when the St. Joe Resources name was used, please add it below.
