- Burner marks: the burner knob or collar usually names the maker and model.
- Clock movements: electric clocks often name the movement maker on the dial or back plate, which is not always the case maker.
- Original parts: chimneys, shades, cords and crystals are often replaced. Note what is original.
- Safety: old cords and burners need checking before use.
