Royal Doulton HN 2554, Masque, backstamp dated 1972
The Royal Doulton Masque HN2554 is a bone china lady figurine made in England, named for the eye mask she holds up on a stick. Her base is printed with the name, the HN 2554 number and a 1972 Doulton & Co copyright date, followed by "Registration Applied For". Listings agree on bone china and a height of about 8.5 to 9 inches. One listing credits the designer as D. V. Sellers call the mask's slim stick its pole; check that it is present and original on any copy.
A Royal Doulton lady in a dark blue hooded cloak raising a pale blue mask on a stick
Royal Doulton Masque HN2554 shows a slim lady standing wrapped in a long, glossy dark blue cloak, a deep navy shading to cobalt blue where the glaze pools in the folds. The cloak has a tall stand-up hood collar framing her face. Her white hair is piled high, with a pink bow (a bright rose pink) at the back. With her right hand she holds a pale blue eye mask on a thin stick in front of her eyes; her left hand comes out of the cloak at the waist and gathers it. The cloak falls in heavy folds to the ground, and a pale pink frilled hem, a soft blush pink, shows around the bottom.
